Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
What’s the difference between bamboo and rattan?
A.
Bamboo is a hard, jointed hollow plant that is brittle, difficult to bend and has the tendency to crack. Rattan is a parasitic vine with a pithy core. The skin of rattan is used to make cane chairs. If properly treated, bamboo and rattan can last hundreds of years.
Q.
What is rush?
A.
Real rush is made from Cat Tail leaves (not from our beloved felines!). The leaves are harvested, dried, soaked and rung dry again. Coming in large spools, we typically use a paper rush for seats on chairs. A properly maintained rush seat will last between 30 and 50 years.
Q.
I live on the East Coast, will you assist me?
A.
Cross country shipping can be rather expensive, but we will be glad to explore options that fit in your budget range and time frame.
Q.
What’s the typical turn-a-round time for chair restoration?
A.
Every project is as unique as the individual or company requesting it. Some restorations can be performed in under a day while others will take much longer. Once we had an emergency wicker repair assignment at the Biltmore Hotel in Santa Barabara, CA. that required us to stay on site for 5 days, working around the clock to meet their deadline. If driving to us proves too challenging, you can always mail/email us a couple of pictures so we can discuss your particular needs in accurate detail.
Q.
My car is not large enough to bring my furniture to you, do you pick up and deliver?
A.
Yes, we frequently make trips all through out Los Angeles and Orange County. Please call us to discuss your specific needs.
Q.
Do I need to make an appointment?
A.
It is always best to call ahead first. We wouldn’t want to miss you if we need to step out!
